Born in California, raised in Alabama, Hugh Mitchell has developed a style that bridges a lot of gaps. American Songwriter Magazine refers to him as “...the golden-throated troubadour...”.
He attributes growing up in Birmingham, AL with his wide array of influences and interests. “My first real good paying gig was playing guitar in Pentecostal Black Gospel Choirs and churches.” The influence comes through.
Hugh released his self-produced ep, Heartbreak Radio, in 2010. He has just recorded his next record with former Wilco drummer, Ken Coomer. Hugh plays solo, as well as with his trio made up of New Orleans musicians.
